Kitchen & Bath Design Specialist, Level 3 Designer

Our Company: Kitchen & Bath Design Studio is a full-service high-end kitchen and bath showroom specializing in residential remodeling and new construction sales. We are located on Kerr Avenue in Wilmington, NC. Our studio consists of an Owner, four professional designers, a Design Assistant and a Showroom Coordinator who work with homeowners and industry professionals when they are building or remodeling kitchen and baths. We sell a luxury service; our customers spend anywhere from $10,000-$100,000 or more on our cabinetry, products and design services. For this reason, we seek an experienced, professional, customer service-oriented Kitchen and Bath Design Specialist, Level 3 Designer to join our team. This is a full-time position requiring a standard 40-hour work week. We offer a competitive compensation & benefit package upon successful completion of the 90-day trial period. Local candidates are preferred, as relocation assistance is not provided.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
Ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate proficiency in cabinetry design and professional Kitchen & Bath industry standards (NKBA and/or ASID) and a solid history of lead development and consistent sales volume history. Additionally, the ideal candidate should demonstrate a great attitude, high energy and understanding of the importance of customer service. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask, and who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate will be self-directed–able to work independently. This position requires someone who is able to complete a high volume of work daily, so strong organizational and time management skills are a must. The successful candidate will be able to manage office functions economically and efficiently, organize work, establish priorities and maintain good interpersonal relations with staff members, clients and vendors. At a minimum, this job requires a two-year Associates degree in interior design, interior architecture, space-planning or related discipline from an accredited school AND five (5) or more years of full-time, related work experience in a kitchen & bath showroom. Applicants without a degree will also be considered with ten plus (10+) years of kitchen & bath design experience.

The successful candidate for the Kitchen & Bath Design Studio position will have a passion for customer service and client relationships. As such, excellent, unflappable interpersonal skills are a must. The nature of work often requires communication with busy people who have extremely high standards. As such, it is necessary that the person in this role be able to maintain composure; demonstrate tact, diplomacy and empathy; and work well under pressure. Our Cabinetry Sales Designers must listen effectively while taking notes when talking to clients and prospective clients. Speaking skills and speech clarity are required to convey information effectively.

Reading comprehension skills are required for understanding written information in design plans, ordering forms, and contracts. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in written communication will be required. This includes: proper punctuation, grammar, spelling, and the ability to write and proofread business correspondence. Candidate must be proficient in keyboarding/typing.
Candidate must respect client confidentiality and adhere to our company code of ethics. Our Cabinetry Sales Designer (like any member of our team) will be expected to act with the highest level of integrity at all times; any behavior not in keeping with our ethical practices will warrant immediate dismissal. The successful candidate will have good judgment and practice discretion.
Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License, be dependable, and have his or her own transportation.
This job has physical requirements. Candidate must be able and willing to lift, push and/or pull small boxes and display items of light to moderate weight. Must also be able to perform general showroom and office upkeep duties which may require physical activity including but not limited to standing, walking, reaching, grasping, squatting, bending or kneeling.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with a luxury, full-service kitchen & bath showroom is ideal. We are looking for individuals with the following experience/skills:

Compensation: Base salary plus commission. Upon the successful completion of the initial 90-day trial period, you will become eligible for employee benefits.
